Earn and Learn

June 07, 2017

Hey guys, I’m coming to you from Salt Lake City downtown. Right now I’m actually in Grand America because tomorrow it’s Vanessa’s birthday. So if you see her say hi. She’s been working hard. Show her some love. So I’m taking the night off for Grand America right now, and having a good time. Okay, so today, day 19 of our 60 sunrises to success. The major key right here for today is being in a position to earn and learn.

Now a lot of people will do one or the other. What’s the problem with just learning, learning, learning, learning, learning, well you’re not making any money. You’re just a perpetual student in class after class after class. But then there’s also a challenge of just earning, earning, earning, earning. And you never really make much progress, you don’t get to apply and learn new things. So the key is to earn and learn to implement, while you are going through this new information, new education is a new endeavor, whatever it is that you’re wanting to do, whether that’s, you know, build a business, create something new, do some real estate investing. And I think one of the major keys that have been lost, that we can actually bring back is the old model of apprenticeship, where someone gets to work with someone else who’s actually been there done that, is doing it currently, and can offer insight and information. Trying to just learn out of a textbook that is way too hard. We’ve already tried that. And unfortunately, with the way the U.S. public education is set up, it’s those books, by the time they come out, they’re four or five years old before they get into their hands. And if science has made a change, or there’s something new, it’s too late.

So there’s formal education and then there’s self-education, there’s the education of learning who you are, what you’re capable of, what you want to do, grow, be all of that. So in this earning and learning, we’ve got to remember that experience is a currency that many people say, Well, I’m not going to, I’m not going to work for free, I’m only going to work if I get money. But a wealthy person, or a wealthy mindset person, someone who really values their time more than money doesn’t need to be compensated with money necessarily. There are other compensations for learning. There are introductions to new people or relationships, that’s compensation, information, and knowledge. That’s also compensation. What about shortcuts, or processes, things that will help you improve what you’re up to. So all of these things really come into your learning and earnings. So find a person or a group of people that you could join, where they’re doing the thing you want to do, and learn from them as you’re earning. Okay, implement as you go. Don’t wait three years, or four years to get a degree before you start implementing things you’re learning. In the information age, which we’re in, I mean, you could be googling so much more information, and really making a lot of progress and acting on that information. So if you want to go start a restaurant, go find someone that owns a restaurant, say I want to shadow you, right? I want to work with you, I want to learn what it’s like to own a restaurant. And maybe at the end of it, you will see how to buy 10 restaurants or maybe you’ll be like, Oh, you know what, I didn’t want to own a restaurant, I really just wanted to be a chef. Right? Or maybe storage units or land development or web design, whatever it is, find someone who’s making something on the web that you want to learn how to do, ask them to ask if you could shadow them.

This learning and earning idea. You know, as Universities have become more popular over the last century, we’ve gotten away from people with experience, and just getting lectured by people who’ve been lectured by people, and we’re getting less effective students out in the world. So find someone today that’s getting the result you want and asked to shadow them. Okay, earn, and learn. I’m gonna leave you with two Jim Rohn quotes, okay, you got to study this guy because he really found a way to live the good life. He said, he said two things. One, he said, “Never begrudge the money you spend on education.” Okay, because the money is temporary and education lasts forever. And then the other thing he said was “formal education will make you a living, self-education will make you a fortune.” So, in this earning learn lesson for today, you got to learn about yourself, you got to learn about the business, whatever it is that you want to do, express gratitude all the time. And remember, compensation doesn’t always come in the form of money. Okay? So that’s what I got for you today guys. Remember day 19. Also remember, it’s Vanessa’s birthday tomorrow. So say hi. spread some love. Remember to take back your existence or die like a punk. Peace out.
